(This is me when I was first learning…and this is still what I look like learning now.)
I started creating my website as I started taking the on-line course at Skillshare.com called “Building a Website from scratch: Using HTML and CSS coding.”
It was $20 but since I was a first time user, I was able to purchase the whole course with a 25% discount. So ultimately, I learned how to code a website for $15 in under 3 months. A much more beneficial alternative to me than spending a million dollars and possibly more than 3 months at an education institution.
Win!
The ‘catch’ is that you seriously have to have the ‘will’ and the ‘passion’ for coding (or a serious masochist). Because once you purchase the course, its ALL you. There’s no accountability held over you by anyone—whatsoever to get you over the hills of trials and tribulations of coding glitches that pave the road of programming/front-end development.
Will—
Its a self-paced course, you have it for EVER. and all the videos are pre-recorded. You technically can message the instructor of the class but they respond on their own time, if at all. Luckily, there are some alternative ways to get an immediate answer but it will require some creative thinking and again -WILL on your part.
If you never appreciated the beauty of Google before, omg, will you become the best of HOMIES after this course. Every question you could ever imagine has already been asked and answered and made into its own article—all accessible to you, by Google! yay! :)
Passion—
Passion for coding will get you through the inevitable moments on the DAILY/hourly basis that you will come across a coding dilemma.
Here’s just a few examples of things that will happen within an hour of a coding session…(in no particular order, of course)
